Knowledgebase: Account Issues
Why Password Changes are Required
Posted by Kristy Rhea on 04 December 2009 03:27 PM

The Bridgewater College IT Center requires you to change
your password every 180 days.  Why you ask?  To gain access to the
Bridgewater network, on or off campus, you must have a Bridgewater
username and password.  Your username is your identity on the network as
well as a portion of your email address and is known by many.  Entering a
username along with a password unlocks the door to all your information on the
Bridgewater College network.   If someone were to steal or otherwise
compromise your password they now have the tools they need to access your
grades, email, schedule, personal information, class work and much more.
By using a strong password, changing it often, and changing it to something you
have not used before keeps misuse of your account to a minimum.
