Carbonite personal computer online backup

Disclaimer: the college assumes no responsibility with respect to the use of this backup solution nor is this to be seen as a particular endorsement of this product. Note that the college continues to recommend that all student work and other college-related work be stored on the college network drives.

Years of experience has taught us that many computer users do not backup their data on a regular basis. In fact, some users have never backed up their important files. In the event that a computer's hard drive fails or needs to be reloaded, users who have not backed up their files will likely lose all of the personal data that has been stored on the computer. Examples of items that should be regularly backed up include but should not be limited to purchased music, software purchased online, and digital pictures.

The college takes on the responsibility of backing up all the files stored on our network file servers but we do not have the resources to backup information saved on personal computers. Carbonite provides an unlimited storage option so students, faculty and staff can protect their personal information. We feel that the annual fee of $59/year is well worth the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your personal data is automatically backed up.
