What is Identity Finder?
Posted by Joseph Meslovich on 04 September 2014 02:06 PM

Identity Finder is a tool for locating files on your college provided office PC that may contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This tool primarily searches for social security numbers, birth dates, credit card numbers, and bank account numbers. It can be configured to also search for additional categories of private data such as passport numbers and drivers license numbers.

It is the responsibility of every member of the college faculty and staff to protect this private data at all times. At various points in time while exercising our duties as employees we are entrusted with other individuals private data. It is our responsibility to protect that information from being intentionally or accidentally disseminated to inappropriate parties.

With the assistance of this tool you will be able to find whether there are files containing private data on your office PC and email and provide you with options for securely removing or encrypting those files.
