Open a Mac Pages document on a PC

If you have a Mac Pages document that you are trying to open on a PC there are two ways to get to the document.

Method 1: (start with the Pages document open on in Pages on the Mac)

  1. in Pages, select the File menu
  2. select Export
  3. in the dialog box that comes up, select word or rtf as the file format
  4. tell the dialog where you want to save the exported file and hit save
  5. the new exported file can then be opened with Microsoft Word

Method 2: (start in the Windows folder where you have saved the Pages document on your PC)

  1. Right click the .pages file and select properties
  2. Change the extension .pages to .zip
  3. Unzip/extract the file (there may be several directories and maybe thumbnails, if graphics is involved)
  4. Open the Quicklook folder
  5. Open the preview.pdf file
